THE NORTH SHORE ANNUAL PRIZE PRESENTATION is our way of acknowledging and celebrating the exceptional academic achievements of our students. Over 700 students and parents attended this year’s exciting event, which was held on Sunday, 20th November in The Concert Hall, The Concourse, Chatswood. Among the guests were Year 6 Scholarship & Selective School Winners, North Shore Young Achiever & High Achiever Scholarship Winners, 2011 ICAS Medal Winners, 2011 Maths Olympiad Medal Winner as well as winners of the 2011 Creative Problem Solving Competition. All 1st Prize winners were presented with their gifts of an iPad and trophy. Other winning students were presented with special trophies and awards as well as some very exciting prizes.

Mr Andy Mak, Principal of North Shore Coaching College, greeted and thanked the presence of distinguished guests, parents and students. Mr Mak said that North Shore organised the first Creative Problem Solving Competition in 1994. He was proud to be supported by Professor Patrick Griffin, Director of Assessment Research Centre, Head of Department of Learning and Educational Development, The University of Melbourne. Mr Mak urged parents to encourage their children to participate in this sort of educational competition. At the same time, he alerted students that they should thank their parents. He asked all students to stand up, turn to their parents and say, “Mum and dad, thank you, I love you”. This drew a big round of applause and created a very touching atmosphere.

Lastly, he thanked sponsors, including HSBC Bank, Konica Minolta, Pascal Press, and Enrichment Corner for their generous support. An electronic lucky draw consisting of three prizes was conducted at the conclusion of the ceremony.
