THE NORTH SHORE ANNUAL PRIZE PRESENTATION PRESENTATION is our way of acknowledging and celebrating the exceptional academic achievements of our students. Over 800 students and parents attended this year’s event, which was held on Sunday, 22nd November in the Sir John Clancy Auditorium, University of New South Wales, Kensington. Among the guests were Year 5 scholarship & selective school winners, North Shore Young Achiever & High Achiever Scholarship Winners as well as winners of the 2009 Creative Problem Solving Competition. All winning students were presented with special trophies and awards as well as some very exciting prizes.

Mr Andy Mak, Principal of North Shore Development Centre, greeted and thanked the presence of distinguished guests, parents and students. Mr Mak said that North Shore organised the first Creative Problem Solving Competition in 1994. He was proud to be supported by Professor Patrick Griffin, Director of Assessment Research Centre, Head of Department of Learning and Educational Development, The University of Melbourne. Mr Mak urged parents to encourage their children to participate in this sort of educational competition. At the same time, he alerted students that they should thank their parents. He asked all students to stand up, turn to their parents and say, “Mum and dad, thank you, I love you”. This drew a big round of applause and created a very touching atmosphere.

Lastly, he thanked sponsors, including HSBC Bank, Qantas, Konica Minolta, Pascal Press, McDonalds, Dymocks, E-Study and Enrichment Corner for their generous support. An electronic lucky draw consisting of five prizes was conducted at the conclusion of the ceremony.
